About

I finished my Ph.D in archaeology at Kokugakuin University in 2002. Up until now I am a Lecturer in Palaeolithic archaeology at Aoyama-gakuin University. My research interest is Palaeolithic archaeology in eastern Asia. My work has focused mainly on the emergence of modern humans culture in east Asia and the palaeolithic-Neolithic (Jomon culture) transition in Japan.

Now I have excavated at prehistoric sites in Syria since 2003. I am a member of research team that discovered Neanderthal remains at Dederiyeh cave, Afrin, Syria and I continue to collaborate with colleagues in those research. So I am also currently interested in comparative approach to Upper Paleolithic period in East and Southwest Asia.
